The Challenge

Apex Title became aware of the dangers of wire fraud when its closing team nearly wired seller proceeds to a fraudulent account. Thousands of dollars could have been lost instantly. As a leader in the market, Apex Title realized it was time to take action against such a significant threat.

Apex Title needed a way to mitigate the risk of wire fraud while maintaining high levels of client satisfaction. They searched for a fast, secure, and easy-to-use platform to validate identity and securely exchange wiring information: CertifID.

Before using CertifID, employees at Apex Title were required to send secured email messages and have every seller notarize their wiring information before they sent a wire. While such precautions are standard in the industry, they caused headaches and frustrations for their clients.

Apex Title attended the 2018 ResWare User conference in Denver, where the company became aware of CertifID as a wire fraud prevention solution. The company’s ownership quickly enlisted the services of CertifID to help bolster its defenses against fraud.  

CertifID integrated seamlessly with Apex Title's ResWare account and provided a secure solution to validate identities and ensure that wiring information was being sent to, and received by, the correct parties. Not only did CertifID give Apex Title greater peace of mind, but it also improved the experiences of its clients and employees.

In just a few days, Apex Title was up and running with CertifID. To ensure its account was set up correctly, the team at Apex Title began with a call to align on current processes, business strategy, and how CertifID would fit into its day-to-day operations. After getting aligned, the Apex Title team set up training with escrow officers and closers who would become users and administrators of the software. Following one short training session and some Q&A, Apex Title was up and running, sending wiring information more securely than ever.
